I am pretty much just forgetting about the rest of the books I’ve set aside for the read-a-thon. I think they are too long, or too involved.
I was reading book # 3, “Interpreter of Maladies”, a short story collection by Jhumpa Lahiri, but I love her writing so much that I want to savor it, that I have stopped after reading three of the short stories. I may still read some more through the readathon, however.
So, I went over to my TBR closet and am instead going to try reading “Queen of Dreams” by Chitra Banerjee Divaruni. If I can’t get into that, then I’ll try “Amy and Isabelle” by Elizabeth Strout (author of “Olive Kitteredge”).
There is a mini-challenge going on over at Eva at A Striped Armchair, asking for a tribute to Dewey, a book blogger that passed away last year. And as I understand it, also founder of the 24 hour readathon. I didn’t get into blogging about my book reading until around the beginning of this year, so I didn’t know Dewey. I wish I had. It is wonderful that there are legions of book bloggers that remember her; and that her legacy is being carried over to present and future book bloggers. I have a feeling that the book blogging community would not be what it is now without her. Thanks, Dewey.
Now I’m going to try out the books I’ve mentioned. Their covers look like this:

Nice tribute! And I love the cover on the Chitra Banerjee Divaruni book. Looks like a great choice to keep going!
Here, here! Dewey was an asset and I’m sad that I didn’t start book blogging soon enough to know more of her. From what bits I did glean, though, she was a wonderful (and very astute) woman.

Hi I just wanted to drop by & thank you for leaving me a supportive comment on my blog earlier! We over-sleeper need to stick together! LOL Glad you’re hanging with the cool crowd that is the Dewey’s 24hr Read-a-Thon! It’s my first year doing this & it has been an awesome if not always ideal most due to my poor choice in picking first book to read so that’s squarely on me – but finding all these new (to me) bloggers has wonderful!!!
Rah-Rah-Rah – Read – Read- Read! We can do it! Woo-Hoo!
