My husband gave me an iPhone for Christmas.  We really had not planned to spend too much on each other for Christmas, but I desperately needed a new mobile phone (my old one was literally falling apart) – so why not?  I have been having fun finding applications to put on it.   Those of you who have iPhones probably know about these already.  One app I like is the Indie Bound one — it shows you independent bookstores near where ever you are located.  LibraryThing has recently launched an application that shows some  ( not all; it’s still a new app) bookstores and libraries near you.  I also found out that Kindle has an iPhone application.  I have not yet explored all the sources for free books to download to it — I found this website  that seems to be a good source (I have not checked all the links yet); including a link to Project Gutenberg.

I also have an RSS application loaded on the iPhone that lets me look at my Google Reader, too.  This is very handy when both computers are being occupied at our house and I might have a few minutes to take a look at my blog feeds!

If you have an iPhone, are there any applications (free is preferred!) that I might not know of that I should??

Reading-wise, I’m nearly done with “The Glimpse of the Moon” by Edith Wharton, but I won’t post about it until January 24th for The Classics Circuit’s Edith Wharton Blog Tour.  What to read next?  Hmmm.  I actually don’t have any finished books waiting to be reviewed!

Later this week is my second blogiversary and I’ll post my thoughts of the past year.  A couple days after that is the first anniversary of my cochlear implant activation, so I’ll probably do an update then.

I better get back to reading so that I have some books to blog about!  I’ve been spending a lot of time exercising at the club, and also trying to be more productive in the studio.  I really need to put up pictures of my recent works.

Oh, and that strawberry next to the iPod?  When I brought home some strawberries today from the grocery store, the kids discovered this gigantic strawberry in the carton.  It really was almost as big as my iPhone.  My daughter enjoyed every bite of it.

my favorite apps (and I am an app minimalist…)- bejeweled and sudoko. a spanish translator/language dictionary. Yelp- good for finding local haunts. and I got a “toolbox” with a level that I thought was nifty, but I never use it. I still think it’s nifty, though. :-)
    have fun!

  2. I don’t know which to be more envious of – the strawberry or the Iphone! Okay, the Iphone wins! Congratulations on the great gift (and apparently, the great husband!)

That is one big strawberry. I hope it isn’t radioactive or something.

And I don’t have an iphone but an itouch, which is kind of similar. It is great to entertain small kids (most of my apps are geared to that) and we watch movies on it too. I just love Apple products! Have fun with it.

That strawberry is making me hungry! My sister got an itouch for Christmas, and she’s loving it! I’m too much of a Luddite, but I can see why other people enjoy them. :)
