Booking Through Thursdays: Monogamous or Not?
Posted by Valerie in Booking Through Thursdays, books, give-aways, tags: book give awaysBooking Through Thursday asks:
Some people read one book at a time. Some people have a number of them on the go at any given time, perhaps a reading in bed book, a breakfast table book, a bathroom book, and so on, which leads me to…
- Are you currently reading more than one book?
- If so, how many books are you currently reading?
- Is this normal for you?
- Where do you keep your current reads?
Good questions, and I’m glad they came up because I was trying to think of what I was going to blog about today!
1. Yes, I normally read more than one book at a time. How many depends on the circumstances and the books. For example, if I’m on vacation, I read one at a time.
2. Right now, three. That is usually the max number of books I have going at once.
3. Yes, this is normal for me
.
4. I always keep one in my purse to read at times like waiting in the car line to pick up my kids. There is one by my bedside. There is one in my studio to read when I’m doing handwork but only if it’s a large book that can stay open by itself (otherwise, I catch up on my magazines in there).
What are my current books? They are The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, currently going back and forth between my purse and bedside–that tells you that I consider it good!
I cracked open How to Read a Poem: And Fall in Love with Poetry last night.
And, in my studio, I’m going through by The Illustrated Bead Bible: Terms, Tips & Techniques by Theresa Flores Geary, a book I borrowed from the library.
How about you? What are your reading habits?

Like you, I normally read only one book at a time. At the moment I’m reading two, My Little Red Book and The Man with the Golden Torc.

I never leave the house without a book as well!
I love this topic…I blogged about it last month because I felt guilty for jumping into bed with a different book each night! Haha.
I usually have 3 going.
Numbers
I rarely have more than one book going at a time. If I like the book then I want to devote all my time to it and not cheat by reading another book!
I read more than one book at a time. The number of books I read has been inching over the years. At first it was three, then five, then six, and now it seems it’s ten (although, even I have to admit that’s crazy). I’ll battle it back down in a couple of months.
I’m usually reading the one book that follows me everywhere throughout the day.
I am usually reading 2-3 books faithfully at one time. There are others that I have started and have put aside when something new grabbed my attention away from it. All of my current reads are on my nightstand so that I know where to find them. If I leave the house, I grab one of them to take with me. Anyway, the three I’m in the middle of right now are: “On Rims and Ridges: The Los Alamos Area Since 1880,” by Hal K. Rothman; A Certain Slant of Light,” by Laura Whitcomb; and “The Historian,” by Elizabeth Kostova.”
I read so many at a time it’s becoming rather hard. I’m working on getting it down to three…
