I was only able to last until 1AM (I think that’s hour 20) for this read-a-thon.   But I did accomplish a lot of reading!  Thanks to  Nymeth, Hannah and Trish for organizing this read-a-thon.  And many thanks to all the cheerleaders who stopped by my blog to leave encouraging notes :-) .

FINAL PAGE COUNT: 1,104

It may be too late to qualify for the prizes given for answering these questions, but I’ll answer them anyway.

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?

Hour 20 which was 1AM.  I fell asleep on the couch at about 1AM and woke up again about 2:30, but I knew I was too tired to continue so just went up and finished sleeping in my comfy bed!
2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?

Books from my read-a-thon? If everyone hasn’t read it by next year, I’d recommend “Slumdog Millionaire”.
3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?

I can’t think of any–it would have been nice if I had known about the read-a-thon facebook page sooner, though!
4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?

I can’t think of anything that did not!
5. How many books did you read?

Five.  Three completed, two still in progress (but I did make progress on them)!
6. What were the names of the books you read?

“Slumdog Millionaire” by Vikas Swarup (finished)

“Three Cups of Tea” by Mortenson and Relin (finished)

“Water for Elephants” by Sara Gruen (finished)

“Because They Wanted To” , stories by Mary Gaitskill (still in progress)

“The Genius of Language: Fifteen Writers Reflect on their Mother Tongue” by Wendy Lesser (still in progress)
7. Which book did you enjoy most?

The first two I read.
8. Which did you enjoy least?

They were all different, so I wouldn’t say I disliked any of them.
9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?

I was not one, but appreciated the ones who did cheerlead!  It seemed like it was an overwhelming task.  Maybe cheerleaders could somehow divide up between them the blogs they visit?  By assignment?
10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?

I would love to read again in the Read-a-thon!  Hopefully next time the timing will work just as well as it did this time!

20 hours of reading is a lot of reading, so I wouldn’t worry that you didn’t make it the whole time! And, you finished some books, so that must feel pretty nice!

  2. Those are some great books you’ve read for the read-a-thon. I loved Water for Elephants. And those that organized the event and the cheerleaders deserve a huge applause.

  3. I was going to read Q&A (AKA Slumdog Millionaire) but didn’t make it to it. I have heard such great things about it though, and know that soon I will HAVE to. You did such a great job with the read-a-thon!
